Trump Calls Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Personnel to the White House
Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Information on the Devastating Shooting
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their remembrance.
White House Call
The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Public Support
Mourners assembled over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support policing efforts in DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the press. “She was caring, caring and always ready to support those in need.”
Funeral details for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Measures and Policy Adjustments
Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The tragedy led the government to pause asylum applications and cease providing entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.
Condition of the Airman
Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Morrisey said on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi told a news show that she also intended to speak to the family.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
