Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
