Real Madrid's Alexander-Arnold May Return to Face His Former Club in November's Champions League Clash
Real Madrid acquired Trent Alexander-Arnold on a long-term agreement
Trent Alexander-Arnold's comeback is moving forward smoothly, giving possibility that the Madrid right-back might be fit in time to play against his old team Liverpool in the upcoming Champions League encounter.
The 27-year-old player experienced a muscle strain during a match against Ligue 1 club Marseille in the group stage of the tournament on September 16.
Alexander-Arnold had to leave the field in the fifth minute, with initial estimates suggesting a possible layoff of around a month and a half.
Real Madrid will travel to face Liverpool on 4 November for the European fixture—just over a month after the injury took place.
Reports familiar with the situation indicate that the defender's comeback is moving along favorably, and there is expectation that Alexander-Arnold could make his first return to Liverpool's stadium after joining Los Blancos in the summer.
A longtime Liverpool supporter, Alexander-Arnold previously said that leaving the club he entered as a young academy talent was the "hardest choice he has ever taken."
During his time with the Merseyside club, Alexander-Arnold made 354 appearances, helping win multiple English top-flight championships, a Champions League, and the domestic cup.
After joining to Madrid, Alexander-Arnold has featured five times across various tournaments, logging over two and a half hours of playing time.
