Orbital Imagery Indicate Iranian Navy and Atomic Facilities Struck by American and Israeli Strikes.

Multiple US and Israeli airstrikes has allegedly sunk or crippled no fewer than 11 Iran's navy ships since Saturday, new aerial photos demonstrate, with rocket sites and nuclear sites also being targeted.

Photographs of the southerly Konarak military port and the Bandar Abbas port installation, which overlooks the Strait of Hormuz and is home to the headquarters of the Iranian navy, reveal smoke billowing from multiple ships on recent days.

Naval Forces Sustained Substantial Damage

Included in the ships sunk was the IRINS Makran, the country's most sizable ship which had been used as a unmanned aerial vehicle platform. Aerial imagery displayed thick smoke emanating from the ship which had been docked at the Bandar Abbas naval base.

Analytical assessments indicate that no fewer than five vessels at the port were "damaged or eliminated". Photos of the south end of the harbor depict smoke emanating from the Makran, while another pair of ships seem to be harmed, with one visibly ablaze.

Over at Konarak, images show numerous harmed ships, with intelligence reports identifying impacts on six ships. Pictures taken on Monday also show that a number of structures at the installation have been leveled.

"For many years the Tehran government has harassed international shipping," the head of US Central Command declared. "Now, there is not one vessel from Iran operational in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Gulf of Oman, and we will not stop."

A number of vessels reportedly sunk may have been obscured in aerial photos by haze or plumes, or struck at sea, and have not been independently verified. Other accounts indicated that one Iranian ship was sinking off the coast of Sri Lankan territorial waters, prompting a rescue operation.

Rocket Bases and Nuclear Locations Attacked

Eliminating Iranian missile bases and the stopping enrichment activities were declared as additional objectives of the air campaign. Aerial imagery also depicted impacts against the southern Khorgu base and north-western Tabriz missile missile bases, and at the Konarak air air base, where missile storage facilities and fortifications were hit.

At the Choqa Balk-e drone drone base to the west of Kermanshah, extensive damage was identified to sheds, bunkers and UAV launching apparatus.

Impact was also seen at a surveillance station at the Zahedan military airport in eastern Iran, near the border with Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Significantly, the new round of strikes have apparently targeted sites at Natanz – long said to be at the center of Iran's enrichment efforts. The UN's atomic energy body commented that the affected buildings were used for access to the facility's below-ground nuclear plant and that "no radiological consequence" was anticipated.

Broader Consequences and Analysis

Military analysts indicated that the offensive appeared to have "significantly degraded" the Iranian navy's capability to carry out traditional warfare using its largest warships. Nevertheless, it was stressed that Iran retains the capacity to launch irregular strikes at sea through the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, mini-submarines and its so-called "clandestine network" of tankers.

The overall extent of the destruction caused to Iranian military facilities remains unclear, with attacks reportedly persisting. Imagery also shows widespread destruction to the main offices of the Iran's Revolutionary Guards in the capital Tehran.

A large number of public facilities also seem to have been damaged in the capital city and across Iran after the hostilities began. Casualty figures from inside Iran indicate that a high number of non-combatants may have been lost their lives in the attacks.

With the conflict ongoing, review of space-based data will carry on to document the changing battlefield picture.
