Netflix Selects Perfect Performer for Bon Clay in One Piece Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is set to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t take place until season 3, and a adored, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.

The streaming service revealed recently that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bon Clay. Bon Clay possesses the power to transform into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that figure reinterpreted as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the live-action show, as in the initial comic and animated series.

The new cast member joins a number of new cast members set to bring the group to life, such as leader the main antagonist, portrayed by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Although Bon Clay is a key figure of the organization, the character will be introduced in One Piece the upcoming installment. With the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this marks a major departure in the schedule of their first appearance, one that could signal further changes to the plot development.

The actor’s combination of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the character. In addition to their recent voice performance in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for writing and starring in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.

Netflix's live-action One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
