Grief as Popular South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country struggling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by three suspects, one of whom began shooting at him before running away.
The motive of the incident remains unclear and no arrests have taken place, police said.
How It Happened
Law enforcement said that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a premises close to the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the building supervising the implementation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"The report indicates the victim was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," an official report stated.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and wearing what appeared to be a security uniform firing shots on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was hit but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and no items were stolen during the attack.
Key evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the crime scene.

Police have appealed anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they traveled on foot after the shooting, and officers have been following their trail to find their location," remarked an authority figure.

His sister, Nicole Stock, said the relatives are devastated to come to terms with the loss.
"I am in shock. I don't have words," she said.
"We know he was a representative for countless citizens. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were willing to speak about. This is a devastating blow."
She appealed to the citizens to avoid sharing disturbing footage from the scene, noting this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's children.
