Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
