American entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in popular programs like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to news outlets.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a message.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific TV Career
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.
He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a party host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.
During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of popular shows, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His work in movies include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Outside of his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was involved with a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.
Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
