Close to 25,000 Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Weather Systems
Approximately 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, generating strong winds reaching 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Residents reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units working to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, approximately one thousand households in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area recorded its wettest day in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations received nearly 600 calls for help across the region, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

At one point on Sunday, more than 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tomorrow was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both regions.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities alerted that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the area.
