AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected partnership that defies conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "A strange encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden group.
The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses
The preview features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a striking scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an unique katana in addition to several objects secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Addition
This release also brings the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Collaborations
This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
